we have had a very fun week. james was off, so we got lot of activities in while daddy was around to help. on monday morning, pearl and i had our first mother-daughter shopping trip. james watched luther and pearl and i went to the most amazing consignment sale. we got lots of fall and winter clothes for luther. (pearl has enough hand-me-downs to last until she is 12) we also found some great baby items for our church. our church was blessed with 4 little girls with in about one month(one was pearl). so they needed several things to entertain all of these little ones. i got luther a few toys for his birthday too. then it was on to the doctor's office for pearl's 2 month appt and luther's 2 year appt. i have to say, that was really the low pt of the week. i am glad it is over and done with and that james was there to help. if anyone without children would have been with us, i guarantee they would never ever have a child. it was basically horrible and it lasted for 3 1/2hrs. i will spare you the details. for the stats: Luther is 29lbs 14oz and exactly 3 ft tall. Pearl is 11lbs 8 oz and 23 inches long. pearl is reaching for toys, smiling and cooing. so, she is totally on track. Luther is talking in 6 word sentences, so he is a stinking genius. i am sure pearl is too, time will tell. i know she is strong. she has been rolling from tummy to back since she was 5 days old. and now she is going from back to tummy. she is definitely going to be a mover and a shaker like her big brother. can't my kids just sit still and be quiet???
on tuesday and wednesday we went to the mcwane science center(me new fav place in the whole world). we may move in. the place is amazing!! we got a membership and we are going to do an add a free guest thing so i can take all of you. you are going to love it :) so now we have a great indoor activity for rainy days and for cool day. that is if it ever gets cold around here.
on thursday, we went to huntsville to see our dear friends the Hitts. this was our first out of town trip since pearl was born. we met at the children's museum. luther and bethany had a great time there, and so did their parents. it is a pretty neat place. then we hung out with the Hitts for the rest of the day. we tried to put luther down for a nap at their house, but come to find out, luther can now get out of his pack-n-play!!!!! i put him down and a few minutes later he just comes walking into the living room saying "sippy cup". so, now i need a cage. anyone have a luther sized cage?? i didn't see one at the consignment sale. surely they make cages for 3ft tall little boys.

on friday, we had playgroup. james watched pearl, so i could just take luther. i was nice to only have to watch him. i really wanted to focus on him sharing and playing nice with others. i had to put him in time out 5 times for misbehaving, so not sure that went so well. maybe he learned some boundaries. after nap time, we took the kids to a pumpkin patch. it was very kid friendly. it had a petting zoo, inflatables, hayrides and much more that luther really enjoyed. we end our fun week by eating at cracker barrel. man, am i exhausted!! good thing james is going back to work today.
one last thing. apparently this hospital where james works is in major financial trouble and will be closing very soon. they barely scraped through last week. so please be praying that james can get into a new residency spot and finish up this year without any major delays.

I'll be praying about James' job.

I do think our girls could be the best of friends. Pearl could teach Hannah about rolling over.

It sounds like you had a wonderful week with James being off from work. I have found with one that the extra hands are helpful so I'm sure they are much needed to 2 little ones.
