camera broke

so my camera has been broken for about 2 months now. but it took me about that long to figure out it was actually broken. i just kept thinking the batteries were not charged. i am missing all kinds of milestones and photo opportunities. i have picked it up 100 times to take a pic and when i turn it on, if goes off before i even get it up to take the picture. i haven't been able to video pearl's cute little toddle or how she walks around with a cell phone in one hand and a pink purse in the other mostly all of the time. luther did about 20 laps around the park on his tricycle today. that would have made a good pic or video. so, i do have a camera that is working that Brittany gave me a while back, but i lost it's charger. so i guess i am just going to have to get a charger for it.
luther has been on a roll lately of saying some really hilarious stuff. i forget a lot of it, but he definitely keeps us laughing. lets see if i can remember a few.

he had a bad dream in the middle of the night so i went in his room and laid down in this bed with him to calm him down. after a few minutes he whispers "mommy, i am going to need you to go back to your bed" as he points towards his door!!

luther's fav music group is the Fresh Beat Band so, he announces to pearl and i during lunch one day "my daddy is a good doctor, he takes care of the Fresh Beat Band"

luther's fav Bible story still continues to be Jonah and the Big Fish. we were driving home in a really bad storm last week and luther was pretty scared. i was telling him that we should be very thankful for our van because we were safe from the storm. i told him to think about Jonah and how he was on a boat unprotected in a storm. apparently thinking back to the story luther starts shouting out "God i am SO sorry!!!"

while eating his breakfast one morning "these scrambled eggs are delicious. mommy, you are so pretty!!"

guess my obsession with cheese has rubbed off on him because he said while examining his cheese toast one morning "is this sharp cheddar or smoked cheddar??"

yesterday he told me "mommy you are pretty cookin" still not totally sure what he meant by that one but is was funny none the less.

this morning with i walked in the kitchen all ready for church: "you are a princess, mommy!!!"

he was rolling one shoulder this morning and when i asked why, he said "that is what you do when you say 'whatever' "

#3 due in July

We found out a week ago that i am pregnant. sometime in july, we am going to have 3 kids, 3 and under!! i am sure most out there think i am crazy(that ok, i am), but we are really excited. james and i have both always wanted a big family and with #3 on the way we see God making our dreams reality. luther is thrilled and is already wanting to know if he can hold the baby when he/she is born and if the baby can sleep with him in his "big boy bed". we actually were going to try to keep our news on the down low for a little while, but luther has done a good job of making that impossible. so, we gave up keeping it a secret. i have my first ultrasound the end of the month, so i will know an exact due date then. i am about 7 weeks now and not sick yet. please join me in praying that will last as long as possible. i was pretty sick with my other two, but better with pearl than luther, so i have hope this could go even smoother. pearl on the other hand seems to be very u...

Kids’ Update

We love Ethiopia! Celebrating the end to a 20 year war with Eritrea and the blessing of the new Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed!     I'm writing from the middle of our 3rd rainy season here in Ethiopia.  We have now lived here for 2 years and 7 months and are looking forward to our 3rd trip back to the US in 2 months. It can be very challenging living here, but we are ALL thankful to be here and to get to see what God is doing in Ethiopia.  I am realizing more and more that homeschooling has been such a blessing for our family.  It has helped our kids deal with the transition of moving to Ethiopia and of living cross culturally with minimal problems.  They are really thriving. Each child has their own challenges but they're small compared to what they could be.
