#3 due in July

We found out a week ago that i am pregnant. sometime in july, we am going to have 3 kids, 3 and under!! i am sure most out there think i am crazy(that ok, i am), but we are really excited. james and i have both always wanted a big family and with #3 on the way we see God making our dreams reality. luther is thrilled and is already wanting to know if he can hold the baby when he/she is born and if the baby can sleep with him in his "big boy bed". we actually were going to try to keep our news on the down low for a little while, but luther has done a good job of making that impossible. so, we gave up keeping it a secret. i have my first ultrasound the end of the month, so i will know an exact due date then. i am about 7 weeks now and not sick yet. please join me in praying that will last as long as possible. i was pretty sick with my other two, but better with pearl than luther, so i have hope this could go even smoother. pearl on the other hand seems to be very unhappy about being a big sister. i have ask her at least 100 times if she wants to be a big sister and i get a big NO every time. luther said "maybe pearl will want to be a big sister later" the wisdom of a brand new 3 year old is surprising. the funniest(aka most embarrassing) luther quote from this week was at my thurday morning Bible study. luther told all of the ladies sitting around the table "Mommy has a baby in her belly" to which one asked "who put the baby in your mommy's belly?" luther realizing that he had everyone's attention decided to make the most of the moment and turn on his luther charm. he had a big mischievous smile on his face looking around the table at everyone as he said "ACTUALLY....................." he paused for a long time enjoying the attention. i just knew he would say "God" like he was suppose to, oh but no, as everyone is anticipating his answer he blurts out "My Daddy did!!"
yes, he actually said that. no, i have know idea why he said it. and yes, it was a bit embarrassing!!

What exciting news!! I'm sure Pearl will come around to the idea of another sibling. At least you know you'll get to sleep through the night since Luther has volunteered to care for the baby during the night :). When can I borrow Luther to babysit for me?

I am so excited for you! You are such a good momma :) Three will be so much fun. I have heard adding a third is not too bad. I have no idea if that is right or not though ;) Can't wait for more details!

I can't wait to be an Aunt Candi for the THIRD time! You're children are such a blessing to me and that Luther can turn some of my worst days into my best! Thank you for making me another niece/nephew! Luther was so funny when he said, "Is my daddy gonna put that baby to sleep" haha and or when he said, "Aunt Candi are you gonna xray that baby" He brings me joy everyday! I love you sissy and am so excited about the new memeber of the Family!!

Luther Arrives!!

On Monday I went to my regular visit to the doctor. My blood pressure was up, so my doctor sent me over to the hospital to stay overnight for tests and to be monitored. While I was there, I had an ultrasound and estimated that Luther was only around 5 lbs. The doctor was very concerned about his drop in growth and said the safest thing was to get him out. They decided to try to induce me and keep a close eye on him to see how he responded. They tried all day long on Tuesday and Wednesday to induce me with several different meds. I had regular contractions the whole time but never dilated. Luther stayed strong so they were able to keep trying for so long. My blood pressure continued to be an issue and of course we were very concerned about Luther, so by Thursday morning we decided that the best thing for both of us was to just go ahead and have a c-section. Breastfeeding: A good start

Breastfeeding has been a huge part of my life for almost 5 years(14 months with Luther, 15 months with Pearl and I am on the 10th month with Calvin and still counting).  With Luther, I had a lot of problems in the beginning and that caused me to do a ton research on breastfeeding.  I read lots of books and info on the web, talked with many of other mommies about their experiences (including my own mommy), and worked with several different lactation consultants. Armed with knowledge, I was actually able to see what info was helpful using trial and error.  With Pearl and then Calvin, I was able to prevent all of the problems I had had with Luther and resolve new challenges my own. I have friends come to me with questions on the subject often and I have realized that I have a lot of help to offer.  So, I have sorted through all of the info and come up with what I think you really need to know in the beginning.  The first few days and weeks really make or break...
